Re: 2nd ed vs 3.5

Wizards of the Coast includes a pretty great CD with the Players Manual that auto rolls characters and stuff. You might be able to find it somewhere it's called something generic like "Character Generator" and levels them up and stuff. I'm surpised a google search doesn't provide more fine D&D aid software. I remember AOL had a DnD specific auto roller (keyword: dice) or something like that.
That character generator is crap and as far as I know, there isn't a 3.5 update for it. There are several much better character generators online (just google D&D character generator). We've discussed this before, and the old thread might even be on the backed up database but I'm too lazy to look. Suffice it to say that 3.5 is somewhat better than 3.0 (with a few minor exceptions) and that 3.0 is a million times better than the 2nd edition. I'd never go back to the old rules. Even Gary Gygax likes the new rules (for what that's worth). I own the core rules CD but I never use it anymore. If you want to play 2nd ed despite having access to a much better game, I can see about getting it to you.
