Re: Review -Point by point for easy rebuttal-

You must be playing the rerelease, because the original DMC3 is waaaaaaaay harder than God Of War. GoW is a little tough in parts (until you max out your blades) but DMC3 is ballstompingly tough from the 2nd level onwards. I think the nicest compliment I can give the game is that the first 4 times I played the Hell Vanguard that's the 2nd boss, he whipped my ass, and by the end of the game I was regularly killing those guys as regular foot soldiers while using the same weapons. It's a nice feeling that you have to actually develop the skill in playing the game to survive the levels. You should play it on what was Normal for the first US release.
Would that be "hard" on my rerelease, then? If so, I'll give it another shot, although I suppose I will have to toss aside my current save since having maxed out shit would probably make the balance less so. I did die some with the first two bosses, but that was mainly because I was tying to deal with them methodically, when in actuality I needed a great deal more frenzied tapping. It does strike a decent balance between asking you to freak out and concentrate sometimes, but it's hit or miss with the later bosses. Either I got a lot better or they were just not anything once you have your combos more maxed out.
Re: the style system, you want to string together more combos because you get more orbs for being more stylish. Also, because it's more fun to hike somebody up in the air, shoot them across the room with a sniper rifle, send his 4 friends flying with a wall of flame, and then jump over to where he landed so you can surf his prostrate body around the room while shooting everybody with guns akimbo. It's just fun.
Ah, so. Does the orb thing apply to objects, too? Just curious, since I noticed some differentiation in the orb counts for the destroy all objects secret mission. The surfing thing only happened to me by accident during the end credits. How do you get it to happen consistently for more than a few seconds?
