Re: Gamefaqs disagrees with you

I still like the blood though, playing last night I did a grenade lay-up on 3 guys on a catwalk and when i was underneath it they actually had the blood STREAMING down Monty Python Style. I found this oddly pleasing.
Yeah some of the blood and shockwave effects are nice, though to fully enjoy the shockwaves from grenades you need to keep it in slo-mo even though enemies exploding and flying over the screen is the best time to exit slo-mo and preserve your reflex gauge. Also the first time I blasted someone point blank with the shotgun and had them severed at the waist with both halves ragdoll spinning through the air, gushing spiral patterns of blood with the torso half still holding down the trigger and spraying bullets everywhere, was a pleasent shock/surprise. After the pathetic popgun of Doom 3 and the worthless assault rifle alternative of other games, it's nice to see an FPS shotgun post-Doom that finally feels like one and dishes out massive damage accordingly. The game gets a tad better once you leave the endless sewer levels of the beginning (a process which took 3 hours too many) and arrive at the office building, but it's still nothing to write home about apart from a couple combat graphical effects that would be cool if the combat weren't so damn repetitive. Stand still, zoom in, hit slo-mo, place crosshair over enemies until they're all dead. There hasn't been a firefight yet that I haven't needed anything else for. Where does all the touted jump kicking come in? Simply emptying a clip into someone, a shotgun blast, or even a plain rifle butt is far more effective than the frequent missing of my boot.
