Re: Mics

So do the 'medals' or whatever persist or is it per session like WolfET? I had a few small rush moments today but overall it's going to take some getting used to. Is anyone using the gay voicechat or are there keyboard shortcuts like Tribes? Is the voicechat worth it? Is mic a novelty or necessity?
All of your medals, badges, and ribbons are permanent to your account, as long as you are playing on a ranked server. I don't have a microphone and I haven't noticed many people use the voice comm.
I highly recommend getting a mic as it adds a whole new dimension to the game. I may seem like no one is talking, but that's often because someone just needs to start it up, as Bodybag already pointed out. So often I'll say a couple of things to my squad and out of nowhere get replies, followed by people asking what the talk key is, which is then followed by them blowing our ears off with the loudest untested mic yelling possible. But they sort it out and now 4 guys in the squad are talking to each other and dominating the game. I would say that being in a talking squad adds 25% to your points totals, if you're looking for hard numbers.
I figured I'd buy one anyway, this clinches it. I am doing alright as a lone-wolf (SpecOps should, right?) and figure having an easy way to communicate would be good. Maybe for fun I'll do a downs voice while playing. 'I'm wight behind joo NightPhlegm!'.
