you pour tan colored goop on the CD then rub like hell with a cloth
I used to use those, until I found that plain toothpaste -- not the gel kind, but paste -- works better than anything else I've tried. A small dab on the worst spot, and then rub like hell in a circular motion. A lot less messy than the brown goop too.
I vaguely sort of remember the first kit I ever bought said to wipe in a circular motion, never in a straight line from the center out. Then every kit I've bought since then always states in bold, <b>"be sure to wipe froim the center out, NEVER IN A CIRCULAR MOTION</b>. Can I get some hard knowledge on the structure of cd's to deteremine which is the correct method?
Just take care of your CD, retard.
On a more helpful note, you might want to think about separating CDs from their content completely: just go download the thing that's broken. And make backup copies of all the crap you buy. (I'm horrible about treating my actual bought CDs well, although my anime collection is all neatly filed in binders and cakeboxes and what have you.)
Does burning cd's work for console games? That's the problem disc right now. I have no clue how it got so fucked up. I left it in my PS2 for a week, periodically playing it until it keep locking up on a certain cutscene. I ejected it to look at it and found massive claw marks all over the thing. I'm stumped.
