But really the direction the magazine is heading is not directly linked to his opinions...he has always allowed the reigning editor maximum discretion. NR print just has a lot of bitching and whining about immorality and things like that. I remember one screed against tattoos that I found particularly bizarre. Also, ever since 9/11 they've been on this whole war of civilizations kick that is a little tiresome. His novels were good? Really? Wow. You're the first person I know that has read them.
