Bravo!
Indeed, there are no inherent values, goals, etc. for the Cartesian mind devoid of sensory input. However, the only thing one is certain of is that one has the Cartesian mind - and sensory input states that this mind is imperiled. As long as one is playing along with sensory input (the world we perceive) - what choice do you have but to save your own self from what appears to be impending existence-failure? Some people argue that they don't mind losing the one thing they know for 100% certain they possess - they don't mind death and dying. So be it. Notice I said:
All that matters is getting as many possible willing sentient beings out of the realm of mortality as quickly as possible.
Emphasis not added - it was in the original post. I can't speak for you, but I've only got one thing in this existence: me - and I damned well intend to keep 'me' going for as long as is humanly or inhumanly possible. If other people are feeling suicidal, that's their call, but I grew out of that a couple years or so back. Furthermore, I don't see why this prevents people who are determined to cessate and people who are determined not to from reaonably agreeing to at least not force the cessation of one another. --SB
