The only truly crazy person mentioned thus far IS Noam Chomsky
Look, Saddam's sons are two little kids of a ruthless dictator doing what all kids of ruthless dictators do - and hey, they did a pretty good job of it, judging from their reputation. They probably did get what they deserved, but I'm sorry to see them dead because nobody deserves to die - people just need to be fixed, not terminated. The fact that in reality they're both grown men and responsible for their actions doesn't change a thing - if you'd had their life and genetics you'd have done the same thing maybe a little better or a little worse. I don't feel 'good' about it because it doesn't matter. They're dead - it's two people dead, some more wounded, etc. And the rest of us behaving like children and rallying around little clubhouses and throwing stones or mean words at each other and pretending like it matters. It doesn't and quite frankly at a macroscopic level it's behavior that's difficult to distinguish from what ape colonies and ant colonies do when they run into one another. It's nothing to feel good about, care about, or be concerned about. I don't like it, but hey, apparently several thousand years of human history haven't done much in the way of convincing the human race that maybe they ought to shut the hell up, sit the hell down, and talk out their differences like rational people. No, people would rather run around listening to what their hormones and pathetic 'feelings' tell them to do, namely get tribal and kill each other for no good reason, rather than have everybody push everybody forward at once as one thus creating maximal upward force for technology, industry, agriculture, healthcare, etc. It's alpha-male chest-beating that is entirely the same afflication one can observe in seven-year-olds on playgrounds around the world. The fact that people are stupid enough to actually feel some kind of pride over 'winning' today's slugging contest is either depressing or hilarious in a laugh-at-them-way, take your pick. You know what they call individuals who can't control their emotions due to chemical imbalances? Insane. Crazy. Bipolar. So what do you call a human race that doesn't even have the legitimate excuse of a chemical imbalance, but still behaves the same way? I vote for immature. --SB Now go have your gay little victory parade.
