Re: DnD 3.5 SRD released

It wouldn't be difficult to retain the old casting system - it's not like the RPG police will raid your game if you don't use all the revised rules.
Well, no shit. But now there's the fact that the new rules made the assassin more powerful. So somebody must have thought they weren't tough enough before. Which I can kinda agree with. So do I let them cast more spells? Or do I do something else to make them cooler? What would work and still not make the class too powerful? This is my problem.
Huh? You said the revision has increased the power of the Assassin class, but you want to change it from the revision version more to make it even more powerful? Assuming that what you really mean is that you just don't like the spontaneous casting, I see no reason why you couldn't use the old version. I agree that having a spontaneous caster with Int as a primary stat is odd, but I also think having a generic assassin class with spells is odd to begin with. If you want to remove spellcasting entirely, I'd suggest upping the skill points by 2 per level and/or up the HD to a d8 as a simple fix. Alternatively, you could just allow the PC to take Death Attack as one of his Rogue special abilities and just not use the PrC, since that's its core ability.
