His interpretation of the "Death of Holmes" scene was fucking GENIUS, by the by

In League, Sherlock is supposedly dead (he faked it). Mycroft is still around, in fact he has a hand in League's creation. Hell, Moriarty is the villian of the first volume. I like Moore's decision to leave him out of the spotlight, for your reasons, and he's just too much. The other guys have their strengths and weaknesses, but Holmes would make it too easy for the gang.
Seriously. The exchange between Holmes and Moriarty didn't carry the emotional resonance of "break her fucking neck, son", but it was still perfect anyway. It was Just So Goddamned English. "To the death then?" "Oh yes". The Holmes inclusion was brilliant in general- it did a great job of not only creating some backstory for the league (references to the good Detective abound), but also set up one HELL of a twist that, like most of the League, you can't understand unless you know Victorian genre and non-genre fiction pretty damned well.
