Re: Holmes & LoEG

Question for anyone whose ass is in the know: From a real-world publishing standpoint, I understand why Moore would not have Sherlock Holmes added to his league as a major player. Holmes is everywhere in the 20th/21st Century, from Star Trek to board games to Infocom titles to movies and so on. However, from a story standpoint, a guy whose "power" is having an intuition that is almost never wrong would make him easily dominate the group. It'd be like DC Comics trying to get their own League together without Batman near it. How did Moore rationalize Holmes's exclusion within the comic? Did he have him hopped up on cocaine or make him extremely old or something? the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
In League, Sherlock is supposedly dead (he faked it). Mycroft is still around, in fact he has a hand in League's creation. Hell, Moriarty is the villian of the first volume. I like Moore's decision to leave him out of the spotlight, for your reasons, and he's just too much. The other guys have their strengths and weaknesses, but Holmes would make it too easy for the gang. BDR
