Wherein Links 2003 becomes my System Shock 2

creativepig, your review of Links 2003 has to go down as the monst inacurate review of a game I have ever read.
You should read Gamespot more.
First of all update your graphic's card, you will find the game renders in milliseconds with a half decent card. I use an Nividia TNT 2 card. it's not the most up to date card around but does the job just fine, also change the graphic options in the game but considering the review I doubt you even bothered to look at all the other options in the game.
I said that the scenes rendered no faster than JNSE, not that they were unbearably slow. Also, I did play with the detail settings and found them to have no significant effect.
Next you moaned about the sound being silent, what do you want? Rocket explosions?
I couldn't put my finger on it until I actually went and played golf, but now I can tell you what I want: fucking ambient sounds. Like traffic or planes or <I>the wind in the fucking trees</I>. When the hell are you ever outside and not hear these things? I mean, if they went to the trouble of including bird chirps and door-slamming, what's the deal?
Over at Linkscorner.com there over 600 courses to download for free, a lot of these courses have custom graphics and sound with some great spot effects and background noise. If you bothered to do your research you would also find sound scripts for the game, some adult rated scripts too which would probably appeal to you going by your language in the review, one such script is 600MB in size.
Hold up there. Playing two or three rounds a day for a couple weeks isn't research enough? I have to go and find out what hermaphrodite porn you fanboy queers are substituting for the waving flag animation? Fuck that. I reviewed the game, not the groupies. And as for your 600 courses, I fucking guarantee 598 are either sub-mediocre or downright awful.
I find it amazing that you can't use the classic swing, it's not that hard to do, click to start the swing, click to stop at top, click to stop at bottom, what's hard about that unless you have it on Elite level where by a slight error in snap and the ball is way off-course.
Whereas <I>I</I> find it amazing--well, I suppose I don't, really--that you didn't comprehend that I ended up using the classic swing because the other one that's advertised on the box like the second coming of mouselook is fucking gay.
The standard computer players are good in various departments, some a good at putting whilst others are good at chipping, you can make your own computer player with new skill settings by moving the sliders up and down, did you bother to do that?
This is a golf game, not a fucking RPG. I have no interest in rolling 8d6 to chooseth mine foe. I played against whatever random characters came up.
You say no game should be without Pebble Beach, the course is available at Linkscorner.com for free, infact there are 2 versions of it there including a 1930's version of the old course.
See above re: 598 shitty courses. I downloaded half a dozen for JNSE before I found one that didn't look like a six-year-old finger-painted it. And again (even though this was a minor gripe to begin with), I'm not going to go download a bunch of addon bullshit that, if it was going to be included, should have been on my CD. Hey, you know what else? There's even an official expansion with a bunch of new courses, but there's not a chance in hell I'm paying for it.
The course designer isn't that difficult to use, yes there's a learning curve but it's not that difficult.
Once I figured it out, I actually kind of liked it, but quickly realised after creating one hole that didn't suck that I didn't have six months to create an entire course.
You mentioned Network play, did you not bother to look at the other options? Links Matchmaker? The Links Tour? What about recorded round? What about all the Offline and online tours people run? Links 2003 is a community, no other game has stayed on my PC for longer the Links series. The Links series has stood the test of time and will continue to do so.
Now you're bitching at me for things I said I liked? But since you asked: no, I didn't try MatchMaker or the tour. You know why? Because 1) you better shut the fuck up while I'm playing--I'm not interested in hearing your A, S or L; and 2) hey, now that you're quiet, why the hell aren't I just playing against a computer player? Golf doesn't have direct enough competition to be worth playing against random fags. cp
