[/quote] Animals have no rights, and what we grant them to accomodate our tastes should not supercede human rights in most cases (ie barring overwhelming public interest, etc). No man should go to jail because someone thinks a goat's rights were infringed, especially since animals are essentially complex property. This belongs quite clearly in the realm of societal pressure. Note that Santorum did not as far as I know refer to pedophilia as that is by definition in violation of most definitions of consent, and was very clear that he meant that the ONLY standard left was consent, which implicitly includes the idea of an age of consent (open to debate). Obviously, he meant this to spark a furor of people admitting that deep down inside they want the government to regulate morality; it is my hope it will backfire utterly. Either way, nothing he said was illogical, and if people weren't reading what they wish he had said into his words this would be a nonissue.[/quote]
