Re: I can't help from whence Beatmania originated.

First: Beatmania and all its variations was, is, and always will be inferior to Parappa, so playing Beatmania superiority games are meaningless.
Wrong. Even through Parappa kicked off the genre and was outstanding, we're still allowed to debate the ups and downs of other rhythm games. For example, watch this: Beatmania is a better multiplayer game and has infinite more replayability than Parappa.
If one is trying to establish Beatmania's superiority based on its heritage, then it's fair. If you aren't, then fine, but that raises the question of why it should even be bothered with when all of its elements (keyboards, turntablism, percussion, etc.) are handled by its superior successors.

Third: Amplitude and Frequency are variations on the music genre that actually don't play that much like Beatmania, due to the necessity of trackswitching. Yes, they have "notes", but so did Parappa; it's intrinsic to the genre.
It's that very change that I find to be one of the key reasons it's not as fun as Beatmania. Are you trying for an incomparable apples versus oranges argument here? Well, you're wrong again.
Not my comparison, hoss: you're the one who brought up Beatmania as the superior music game. As for trackswitching making it inferior: do tell, because you certainly haven't yet.

Fourth: Amplitude and Frequency actually have graphics that aren't poorly rendered cartoon dogs. Good graphics aren't necessary for good gameplay, but they're a bonus if they're there.
Summarized: Beatmania has gay graphics -- NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT! Beatmania's graphics are horrible, yes, but Freq/Amp's very professional Jeff Minter trip-scapes are done done done, and illicit no reponse from any viewer. A footnote in the boring review. "Nice graphics, PERIOD, 8/10" Meanwhile, a poorly drawn cartoon dog (who probably makes a sour face when you hit a wrong note, or perhaps a banana with a big red X appears, or maybe this) gets big laughs from any crowd watching a Beatmania game. Frequency and Amplitude fake coolness by suggesting that this could be really interesting to look at if you're high whereas Beatmania was actually created by people on mushrooms while in MS Paint.
I played Frequency for a few of my friends for about five minutes. That hooked them, and they knew all about music games. I also showed them about five other games, and they gave them all up to play more two-player Frequency. "No response", my ass, graphics help. And if you want drugged out games, put down Beatmania and play Samba.

Fifth: fag.
Tell me again about how you're humming that David Bowie song.
Bah. That's like the difference between having homoerotic dreams and having a leatherboy fuck you up the ass. Both are gay, but only one is by choice. Pissing on Amplitude because it threatens the purity of Beatmania fandom is precisely that gay.
