Re: You rang?

I am sorry that I got trolled so easily, as I was posting my response I realized what fabio was doing. But then again I hoped someone who was really into D&D 3E (like jeep) would ream my hypothetical wizard a new asshole (making my post basically invisible to fabios radar).
It's not hard. D&D3E says that Wizard's Spells take a long time to cast. They'd be impractical, except that somebody came up with the idea of casting everything except the very end, and leaving the spells "in stasis" until they were needed. The more powerful the spell, the longer it takes to cast, hence "memorization times" and "spell levels", which simply refer to the time spent and the difficulty of the spell. Sorcerers, OTOH, can just blast off spells because they've got an innate ability to force their will on nature. (That's why it's based on "Charisma", which is partially a measurement of one's willpower) They can cast *more* spells at any given level, and don't need those stupid bloody spellbooks. They aren't as flexible, though, because they have to cast the spell essentially on instinct. However, they can cast low level spells at higher levels pretty much at will, meaning that most Sorcerers I've ever seen are essentially magic missile and fireball launchers. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Priests, of course, just need to suck up to whichever god they happen to support for X number of hours to get their spells.
