Re: Death Poodle keeps its eyes on the prize (minor Hulk spoilers)

#1: Ang Lee has got this weird method of attempting to translate the comic book aesthetic into a film format. I swear to God - Tank Girl achieved this with greater subtlety. Lee's method is a semi-annoying combination of split-screening and cutting some elements away into new shots. However, you can kind of groove on it after you get used to it. It could be really cool to do some of this shit during the fight scenes. HOWEVER. The only time Lee uses the technique is during the "charged" dramatic conversations... the fight scenes are all normal CGI bullshit.
I'm all for a movie that can make me jump in my seat and go "AAH! Jesus!" but not when it's a reaction to the editing. Why on earth did he keep cutting to a new angle in the middle of someone's sentence? That whole comic panel thing was ludicrous, if you ask me. I don't know what kind of crazy comics Ang Lee has been reading, but I usually read mine one panel at a time. Not four at a time, and definitely not four with the same event shown from different angles. Keep your arthouse out of my HULK SMASH, you jerk.
