Hulk had it coming.

Plus, in X2, people sniggered a little bit. In Hulk, people were laughing at it like it was a comedy.
Was this just because of the age of kids in the audience, or do you suspect that, hell, any one of us would be doing the same? 13 and 14-year-olds (if the miserable shits here in Fort Collins are any sort of national barometer) will laugh and snicker at literally anything placed up in front of the screen in front of them. Home video from the Rape of Nanking would get them all braying and chortling like a pack of jackasses. However, Daredevil got the same sort of reaction when I caught it, and as much as I wanted to like that film, I have to admit it was well deserved. My gut feeling is that the Hulk is going to fall into this category. I can't not see it, as I am too much of a comics geek, but my fear is that this and "LXG" are going to kill the comics adaption genre this summer. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
It wasn't mostly kids in the theater - I saw this in a theater wherein you mostly see adults. I estimate there were probably 5% under-10, 25% under 20, and the rest were adults. The specific conversation (you'll know it when you see it) takes this superhero movie and turns it into a modern performance art-style play (like Laurie Anderson or something), with Nick Nolte and Eric Bana yelling at each other for 10 minutes on an empty set with a spotlight on them. My wife and I were sitting there with our jaws dropped at the bizarre awfulness. 30 seconds later the laughter started. Note that we were all completely cool with the fact that he looks like Shrek. These dramatic scenes are really terrible. Like "Pirates of The Caribbean," I hope that LXG is going to be cool, though it looks like it's going to be bad... why do the previews remind me of The Phantom? Anyways, if the comic-book movie isn't dead by next summer, The Punisher will kill it for sure. It looks as bad as the Dolph Lundgren version... the director's main credit up to now is that he wrote the screenplay for Armageddon. Sweet Jesus. Other previews that made my skin crawl: The Cat In The Hat (why Mike Myers, why?) and Peter Pan. Is this Peter Pan movie filling a need? Don't people remember Hook? Also, T3 isn't looking too great, except for the totally hot fembot. Looks like a bad year coming on. Still holding out hope for 28 Days Later.
