Re: HUMVEES and games

Crtl-C Crtl-V from http://www.real4wd.com/content/articles/hist-humvee-01.asp On March 22, 1983 the U. S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command awarded the AM General Division of LTV Aerospace and Defense [now AM General Corporation] a $1.2 billion contract to produce 55,000 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV, pronounced HUMVEE ®), to be delivered in 15 different configurations over a five year period. The contract included an option to increase the number of vehicles purchased by 100 percent during each of the five option years. The Army eventually ordered an additional 15,000 option vehicles raising the totals to 70,000 vehicles and $1.6 billion. It was the largest multiyear contract for tactical wheeled vehicles ever awarded by the U.S. Army. In brief, the military has had them since '83 or so, which is why the military in Vice City (circa 1986?) has them. Also in regard to the thread topic, the last games I've played: Mission Force:Cyberstorm - Turn-based, Hex-based, Giant robots, Synthetic Bioderm pilots, business simulation. I play it for about 20 hours every year or so. Freelancer - Played through the single player game, played multi with my friends for a couple of weekends. I probably won't ever play it again. Morrowind - Get it. Here's what I would do if I could do it all over again: Patch it to the latest version and when you play through it DO NOT train any of your primary or secondary skills. That forces you to actually play through the game as opposed to stealing deadric weapons, selling them to a MODded shopkeeper for 70 grand, and training yourself up 10 levels. After you finish the game, reinstall it to version 1.0 and take enchanting as a primary skill and make all sorts of waaay powerful items. The greatest part of the game is just exploring the landscape. The worst part was running around being constantly chased by fucking cliffracers trying to find goddamn "imnumasdfjasdfh shrine" or some shit. As far as the tribunal expansion goes, the best part about it is that it fixes your journal so you can sort conversations by quests. Here comes the Arcanum reference: Arcanum has a great journal. It flags quests by status (inactive, active, complete, broken) and is well organized. About Arcanum, I bought it pretty much on the merit of it being by Fallout people. On top of that I thought it would be really great to run around with guns shooting mages. It ended up with me having to buy a ton of bullets and getting my ass kicked constantly. I've heard that initially the game favored the magic side of the equation and since pathes have corrected this somewhat. Combat mission - The greatest wargame EVAR. Also, I think I'm the only person who plays it. Essentially you give your troops orders, hit the 'GO' button and then watch for 60 seconds while they get blown up. Rinse and repeat. Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942 - Combine the unadulterated awesomeness of BF1942 with the destructiveness of modern warfare (minus the charred corpses of women and children) and you get an awesome new way to plane-camp. Does anybody here play World War 2 online? I brought it home from the store I used to work at because I couldn't bring myself to sell it to anybody. However as royally screwed as the game was, I still had fun driving around in my gigantic, useless, French tank. I'm thinking of renewing my subscription for a month to see how it has changed since last year, but then I hear about how great Planetside side is.
Forgot to add: Vice city for PC - I'm thinking the difference people ar seeing between the two games is that Vice City has more shooting. Either way, its still good.
