I dunno[/quote] For me it all began with the fact that they managed to make graphics arguably worse than Fallout 1 or 2 with none of the charm, progressing through the "here's a big helping of go fuck yourself" interface. That and what you cite pretty much sums it up, setting aside the crap storyline that is almost a gimme in most rpgs anyway. I played Fallout 2 again afterwards just to cleanse myself. [/quote] And more. Random encounters not sizing for your level, brain-dead quests/puzzles, and my favorite, the inability to rest in dungeons. CGW said it best: "Even if your character was a dwarf, and you were in a Dwarven mine, in a Dwarven mine's bed chamber, standing in front of a little Dwarven bed, <I>you cannot rest</I>." All of what we're mentioning here are steps backward from what RPGs, even BIS (hell, even <I>Troika</I>, alums from BIS as they were) had accomplished to date. And that's inexcusable. These are the things that make me nervous over the Temple of Elemental Evil game that Troika's working on. Guess what? It's turn-based, although they say that enemies of equal initiative will attack simultaneously. Whoopee-fucking-doo. LK take note as well, they've only got spells for levels 0-5, but it's still totalling well over 200. That's how many BG2:ToB had and they used all 9 levels. BDR [/quote]
