First read the history books on Queen Barenziah vols I-IV, which are quite dull, then read the (obviously autobiographical) Real Story of Barenziah Vols I-V. Of everything I've read, outside of that one vicious publication by Prince Hyloth (the spy posing as an advisor begging to relieved of his post) who happens to be Barenziah's son, these were my favorites. Also suggest you check out the one with the word, and name, Chance in the title (can't recall the full title off the top of my head). Anyways Morrowind has 700,000 words worth of text in the books section, and according to the marketing of the game the average length of a novel is 100,000 words - so (again according to their marketing) they have 7 novels worth of words scattered across the various 130-odd different (mostly short) books available. Either way you look at it, there's a fuckton of reading to be done within the game. --SB
There was this one about how the universe was a dragon of some sort eating itself and constantly shedding skins. The gods would have to jump skins to stay on the dragon and not get lost. No clue what the name was, but I've always had a strong attachment to myths and legends, so that one stuck out. Another (or possibly the same one, I don't remember) described how the god Lorkhan was more of a limitation than an aspect of the universe given form, and that he tricked the gods when he created Mundus (the world). The gods were pissed at this betrayal (the world was a limitation, like he was), so they killed him and cast his heart into the world. The Men of the world love him, since he created the place, and the Mer (elves) revile him since he created a divide between them and the Gods. The most interesting thing, I think, is paging through something and remembering it from Daggerfall. -/ES/-
