Re: Warhammer: Dawn of War demo out

I just queued up missiles and ran away until the missiles were built then turned around and blasted them. Seemed to work fine.
Yeah, it's hard to say right now, based on the computer AI and my crashing to desktop. Maybe the better tactic would be to drive the tanks up, wait for the opponent to upgrade to missiles, and then fly in the assault squad instead. A fake out.
Chicks will love this game. Your opponent wants to keep all his options open, not deciding on what heavy weapons to get until he sees what you has. Your mission is to force him to make a commitment. And then crush him.

maybe 20 years of playtesting has produced a game worth playing.
You've never played a Gamesworkshop game, have you?
I put a "maybe" in there, because no, I have only a basic knowledge of Warhammer. But something must be keeping the kids playing, keeping all those tournaments running, right? They're competitive! :(
The whole Warhammer hobby is like model trains. The whole point seems to be going "oooo" at all the detailed models and scenery. Little kids will press their faces up against the glass to look at all the cool stuff, but the most they'll actually own is a little figure eight track with engine and caboose. Only the most diehard and scary will keep at it into young adulthood and pour the time and money into amassing a gigantic miniature town with switch junctions, tunnels, and little working lights in the houses.
