Not an ex-Gin Blossoms fan. Some new-ish records are good, too.
This should be called the "Peter Gammons Tribute Thread"
Pixies
Where is my mind?
Fuck Sonic Youth in the ear. I hate them.
Daydream Nation == Best Record Ever.
OK, I've never heard of Tom Waits. Noted.
His new stuff is good, too. Blood Money, I think, may be a good starting point with Tom. Since we're off on this tangent, his stuff is way more jazz-oriented than the rest of the post-punk being listed so far. Also, he's a songwriter more like Guthrie, which throws him WAY off being anything like the rest of the records you're talking about in this thread. He stands out in any record collection, though. When I think of old, good songwriters, it's usually him along with Dylan, Cohen, Havens, Young, etc.
Fugazi
Steal it.
Dismemberment Plan
Emergency & I, or download "Gyroscope" and "The City" they just broke up, btw. PJ Harvey's Rid of Me is pretty much just perfect. New-ish record: Spoon's Kill the Moonlight is still in my changer with Interpol. I'll get the new White Stripes today and let you know, their last few have been uneven. /jeep/
