In a furtherance-of-man-through-wealth-begets-knowledge sense, it's objectively superior. On the other hand, I doubt the tribes of BerryPickia welcomed Roman legions with open arms. I find myself looking at a way of life that beats pants off the one I know, but requires some amputation of my multi-limbed humanity.
