Re: Speaking of "Switch" bullshit...

Easy. I have spent far, far more dollars on your overlord's offerings then on Apple's products. I Don't Hate Windows.
I don't hate Macs, I actually own two of them. But anyone buying OSX expecting to get a fully-compatible BSD distro likely to be disappointed at some point. Porting UNIX apps (and especially shared libraries) to OSX is often a non-trivial exercise. System administration is also substantially different than with BSD, just have a look at some of the standard configuration files in /etc to see what I mean. Granted, it's nice to have all that BSD stuff integrated right into the OS, rather than tacked-on like Cygwin. But it starts to look a lot less attractive when you consider that, for the price of a good Power Mac, you can build a top of the line Windows system, and still have enough left over for a nice Linux/BSD box.
Though since i am a valued Microsoft Customer, let's talk about MS, Digital Rights Management, SDMI and the weird and interesting new EULA's I get when I hit the "software update" button.
Fair enough, and then lets talk about Apple threatening DVD-R vendors with the DMCA for hacking their drivers, etc. Nevertheless, it's certainly true that overall, Apple is far less evil than Microsoft. I still haven't upgraded to XP, and I refuse to install anything with that "product activation" bullshit. So you certainly shouldn't read my posts as an unconditional endorsement Microsoft products.
It would appear we're pretty much on the same page with all this, though I do add that 10.2 is still a very young OS. Since Hubbard is now on board with Apple, I'd expect better BSD is coming.
