Invisible dicerolled encounters are an improvement over this? And actually, they didn't replace it with people sitting around looking worried, they replaced it with OMFG LOOK AT THAT SHIT scenes. Unless you happened to miss the scene with the Elsa in the tunnel, or KOS-MOS waking up, or pretty much anything that psychotic gunslinger kid does.
