On Xenosaga and cutscenes

I'm with you on the cutscenes. If it was a PC game I'd just hit ESC, but on the console... 30 slaves worked 300 hours each to make that cutscene and they will make you watch it no matter what. It sucks and there's no defense there. You're wrong about the rest, of course.
Actually, you can skip the cutscenes. During the cutscene hit start and it'll pause. (So, no, you don't have to watch it all in one sitting). Hit triangle while it's paused, and it'll skip. Easy. As for cutscenes... I don't get the whining. Pointless and slavish adherence to plotlessness and nonlinearity leads to shit games as easily if not more easily than the inclusion of pretensious long-winded cutscenes and linearity. Witness Saga Frontier. I mean, fuck, Hexen 2 had a hub system and Half-Life was so linear it was practically on rails, but who argues that Hexen 2 is better? If the game sucks, it sucks; it's all about the implementation.
