Total War has, due to elevation and morale in the battles, a small measure of strategy. C&C 1 HAD STRATEGY - the bases were powerful enough to take nearly anything when properly setup and the trick was to use one of a dozen different gambits to sneak through or break down the defenses. Mass tank rush? Engineers in an APC? Tank rush the SAMS and chopper in the engies? The possibilities were AWESOME and you time to think it out, and it wasn't terribly rock-paper-scissors. There was no cure whatsoever for the mammoth tank. Myth had tons of strategy thanks to the dwarves. There is a serious fucking mental illness either in developers or in gamers that all they really want & make is clicky-clicky-Korean-tricky. Or Progres^H^H^H^H Everquest. Somewhere something huge went wrong and it needs to be fixed. GTA3? Part of the cure for this fucking bullshit narrative-on-rails FPS 'gaming' we have today. Morrowind? Same.
