Standard 101-key keyboard.
Yes.
104 all the way. Being an IT type, I am constantly launching terminals, regedit, explorer windows, and the System Properties windows while using Win2k. In Linux, an extra meta key that nothing maps to by default makes for good binding. The following are all default shortcuts in Win98 and beyond. Not many people seem to know about these: Win-R = run dialoig + cmd = term in about 3/4 a second Win-E = explorer (file, not Internet) in 1/5th of a second Win-Pause/Break = System Props window in 3/10ths of a second My primary shortcuts for X: Win-left/right = prev/next virtual desktop Win-A = shade window (coupled with sloppy focus = tits) Win-+ = new terminal window Win-- = new vim window.

The Enter key must be the big kind.
OH GOD YES. Most of my other little idosynchrasies are gaming-related (see below), but those half Enter keys mean death to my typing.
OH GOD NO. I hate hunting up in that fucking corner for a tiny little \ or | button.

The backspace key must be the small-as-a-letter kind. The backslash key needs to be next to it and also small.
No preference here.
Again, GOD NO.

If you have power/suspend keys ESPECIALLY OVER THE ARROW KEYS SO I CAN'T USE HOME AND END YOU FUCKMONKEYS...
Never seen that but the very thought makes me cry.
The absolute worst configuration I've seen has the power key where the Pause/Break button goes, and that top row of 3 moved down to right above the d-pad. You'll note above that I use the Win-P/B shortcut to access the System Properties - I've turned the power off inadvertantly on this one client's box about 4 times already because of this.
I finally switched to a 104 because I couldn't be bothered to go get one of those adapter things for my 101 and it further fucked my already-convoluted FPS mapping. I'm a cursor keys (as strafe) and mouse kind of guy and until recently jump was the spacebar, which I reached with the heel of my hand, with Enter and Shift crouching and run/walking, respectively. Now, with the Windows key in the way, I've had to switch to Keypad 0 to jump. I'm afraid to look down at my hands while I'm playing for fear of the contortionist positions they're in.
WASD
And fuck those gel pad things. I just have my keyboard and mouse pushed way back on the desk so my forearms are sitting on it.
Same here. That, or I'm sitting indian-style, supporting my forearms with my legs. -/ES/-
