Better than anything you've posted to the site, at least

I'm not very stupid, thanks for asking.
I wasn't really asking.
You say "taking abstract ideas and applying them to a real-time game engine" like it's something anyone could have done if they cared enough. What's your definition of innovation? Wasn't pretty much EVERYTHING an abstract idea at one time or another before someone "implemented" it, from the PC to the Internet to lousy message board code?
It's one thing to come up with an algorithm for which there is no precedent. It's another thing to have written an implementation that forwards the industry for which there are already a) existing papers with algorithms or b) existing technology demonstrations. Depending on the exact nature of his role in Carmack's Reverse Doom 3 may or may not have been the first time since Keen he's seriously pulled off the former. I haven't suggested anything else at any time.
How the hell was BSP not revolutionary for its time? Because sooner or later it would have been invented anyway? Does that mean if and when time travel is invented, the guy will be considered a fucking implementer of BINRO'S THEORY?
Because there were existing papers on the topic according to him?
You're arguing semantics here, when the <b>fact</b> is that Doom, Quake, Quake II, Quake 3A, and by ALL indications Doom III have advanced real-time 3D gaming exponentially.
Exponentially in terms of implementation. Have they included completely 'new' ideas in them? No. Least of all Quake 3.
The first article on the front page of this ridiculous site is a review of a MOD of a game built directly from Carmack's code. Understand?
That's a nice way to try and change the subject, Mr. Fundamentally Wrong. I said something, you tried to show me up and only demonstrated your inability to read to the world. Now you try and dodge. Seriously here, jackass you're showing yourself to be more pathetic than me and that's pretty fucking sad.
The entire industry moves forward every time Carmack releases a new engine,
No shit, I never said otherwise.
so how is it exactly that everyone would be arriving at the same place if he weren't around? It doesn't hold water, you know it doesn't hold water, and your ridiculous attempts to refute my argument by asking me what I do for a living shows you've given up already.
Actually, no, I just figured if you were going to start with the personal bullshit you could at least try and give the appearance of having a pair and not fight from a position where I have nothing on you but you've got everything on me. And you still haven't countered my fundamental point even once, even a tiny bit - and that point is that with the exception of Keen and possibly Doom 3, Carmack has only created excellent implementations of existing ideas. That's what I said from the beginning, it's still true, and you've yet to demonstrate it otherwise. You've lost. Now shut up. --SB
