Funny, Thief 1/2 didn't have any respawning.[/quote] But System Shock 2 did. It sort of contrived a deus ex machina (arf arf) for this, but there's no hiding it. And although the spawns, active only when the alarm was sounded and, it seemed, at the higher level, were annoying and nervewracking, I don't feel it got in the way of an excellent game. Or at least not too much.[/quote]
