The Classrooms
Just when I thought I was done with backrooms games, they pull me back in again! The Classrooms is a great Backrooms-themed game that takes all the stuff all the other backrooms games did, and does it all so much better. I love this game. It's the first backrooms game that I can uncritically recommend to people as a game. It's got everything: procedural generation, lore, lots of different entities. It's got zoom, and lean, crouch, jump, and rebindable keys, and an inventory system. It's got all the good backrooms levels that you've thought about and some that you haven't. (Actually, the only level that is missing is level 0!) You can jump down the water slides, jump really high on trampolines, climb on things. For the most part, there is no invisible wall bullshit. You can CLOSE DOORS which sometimes keeps entities out. You can turn lights on and off (and yes, sometimes you do want them off). There are lots of different entities and they behave very differently. The procgen doesn't make things boring because it's mainly connecting together pre-built areas which are quite good. So you're still getting human-generated content, just re-arranged. A lot like SCP: Containment Breach did. The lore comes in the form of notes and also video tapes that you can play. It's obviously a bit SCP-inspired, which I think is a good thing. You can sort of see where some levels were inspired by other games, but in every case Classrooms does it better. It just succeeds as a GAME in the way most of the others don't. I would say that this is probably THE backrooms game to play at this point, if you like games with entities. (If you want a walking simulator you should still probably play the Complex: Expedition.) Hopefully they'll add a level 0 for completeness. Although it might not be thematic, for plot-related reasons that I won't go into here.
