Used to be if you left something maximized or set to a certain size and shape, it would keep that setting when it reopened. That's history. The default fast startup shit (that Windows 10 also had) drains laptop batteries pretty quickly if you leave em in a drawer for a week or two, which happens for classroom or presentation laptops sometimes.
