The best Civ 4X game right now
It's Through the Ages, the adaptation of a 2015 card game. <img src="https://media.pocketgamer.com/artwork/na-sxgz/through-the-ages-ios-2.png"> The card game was a genius design made unplayable by number crunching bookkeeping shit. The digital version solves all that. Start at the dawn of civilization. Use your limited action points per turn to take cards from the top and use those to build shit. New cards pop up on the right and slide left every turn. Cards get cheaper to take in action points (the white dots on cards) as they slide left. Each game plays different because you probably won't get the same cards you did last game. Adapt your plan based on which cards you get. Build food and industry. Build wonders. Build research labs. Build military to knock others around. At some point, start building a means of victory point (culture) generation. The AI is amazingly good and never cheats. At the highest level, you will constantly come in last until you master the thing and even then, you will win maybe 30-40% of the time. The online multiplayer support is great. Pickup games of any desired time limit (minutes to weeks) are readily available in the online lobby, or private games with friends. Only $15 and frequently on sale.
