Re: Cover Songs

JOHNNY CASH - Rusty Cage It's really a Cash song with Chris Cornell's lyrics. Everyone shuts right up when they hear it, and people consider becoming Johnny Cash fans on the spot.
Johnny Cash rocks. But I'm suspicious of his newer stuff because the inclusion of newer artists seems too much like the Santana-sell-out album Supernatural, or even worse, Shaman. Ugh. One that should be on the list: THE PIXIES - Head On I consider myself something of a shoegazer fan, but I only like really queer stuff like My Bloody Valentine or Ride. And though they're supposed to be sko innovators, The Jesus and Mary Chain suck, according to my virgin ears. Just boring, slow guitar rock, often without the insanely loose drumbeats that I love most about shoegazer. Since covers are usually of old songs, I have to give The Pixies credit for recognizing the goldmine underneath a contemporary JaMC pile.
