2022 Pop punk subthread
[quote name="Ice Cream Jonsey"]I'm trying to identify what is recognizable and what "the rules" are for pop punk, a despised genre by many. I've also heard most of the bangers that were pre-2022 a zillion times, so I'll add some posts for new stuff as I find it. I'm surprised that it's been over 20 years and people are still making music like this. [youtube id="Ee7k67oTa1M"] I like what jxdn is doing, though in my own personal situation I'd have an instrument just do a solo for the "la la la" part. Classic rock bands differentiated themselves that way, Styx was the dramatic rock band, Queen the glam rock band, etc. This particular song with an oboe or something in that spot wouldn't suffer and a year from now I'd remember them as the double reeded pop punk band (although going on tour with double reeds is probably hell on earth).
