Anime Isn't Worth My WAGE^___^
::
There are very serious problems with this show (all of the spoilers)
[quote name="laudablepuss"]Also, sorry for misspelling "bebop". I take back what I said, this Faye is about 75 or 80%. I like the actors, even if the show itself falls flat on its face sometimes. Just a quick checklist of good and bad points. Good: *Making Julia a real character *The assassination of the Elders and Viscous' performance when he comes back home to Julia: maybe my favorite part of this show so far. *Speaking of Julia, holy tits. And Faye hooking up was good (and Jet's "WHAT THE FUCK?") *The bars and night scene generally -- maybe it's the pandemic but I'd totally hang out in some of these places. *Maybe it's not a bad plot idea to make Spike's syndicate connection a secret and later a point of contention. I dunno. *I also liked Spike being caught in the cult trap instead of Faye. *Some of the fight scenes are pretty good. *I actually did like Faye's vhs tape -- one anime parallel not butchered, at least IMO. Bad: *Ed. So, so, so so bad. I hope that performance gets better before the next season. *Huge plot point, pointed out by Julia herself: Why did Spike not go after her (in THREE YEARS)? He knew where she was. Answer: because he believed Viscous, which is nonsensical, especially when you see the context. *The writing in general has issues. Rolling over after your very first sexy times with a girl to say, "I love you" basically -- and having SPIKE do this -- was actually horrifying. *Jet is pretty gullible. :( Seems a bit dumber than anime Jet. *Every scene with a direct anime parallel is bad, and just makes me want to watch the vastly superior version. I thought Pierot was the worst, but the actual worst was the Cathedral scene in the last episode. I don't mind the change-up of how that scene went down, but the part where Spike falls out of the window . . . no good. *The effects budget is not adequate for this. Pierot rising up on an obvious wire was a low point. The zip craft don't look great, and we barely see em. *Why does Ein look so gross in the opening credits? What the hell is wrong with his mouth? Speaking of opening credits, Faye's thigh non-move is dumb. *Why did we see the old guys only once? *They actually make Viscous and Spike wear the stupid syndicate foot soldier uniforms. Good god.
