[/quote] Hope there's more than two people here watching the sarcasm immune system turn on the host. I'll explain it for people who have been broken badly by the Trump era: 1. Racism is bad, we learn. 2. Racism becomes "sacrilized", source of extreme anxiety. It's a "sacred cow". 3. It's good to poke, tip, and slaughter sacred cows. The further #2 goes, like actual language prohibition, the cow becomes more sacred and more deserving of abuse. And if you're autism-free and have intuition for the dynamics above, you can always detect when we're seeing the real thing or just someone giving the cattle grief. For example — if some asshole keeps dropping in unprompted to test for alt-right sentiment with antisemitic posts, that's regular racism pretending to be something else. I was in favor of deleting those posts (not for love of jews, who are great don't get me wrong, but because the posts are clearly racist) but now I feel like any step in the direction of more moderation isn't going to stop until Caltrops becomes the sort of forum they used to mock, and which themselves have gone into overdrive. That's another example of how the dynamics work — the cheaper the appeal for moderation, the more threatening any moderation becomes. How often have people said "nigger" in this forum since 2003? A place they've been free to do so since day one? Stop demanding to outlaw words. People have been posting again, excellent posts, it's great. And unlike blackwater, I don't think there's anything old-fashioned about Caltrops. It's the changes elsewhere that are wrong, and I think you're going to see where aspirations to try and control language get you in the coming years.[/quote]
