Arturia CS-80V (software) 150 bucks, free demo
Yeah, you basically asked "how do I reproduce the music of God, performed and produced upon God's Tool". The only time I've ever heard a decent Vangelis-inspired tune is in the Mass Effect 1 soundtrack. So: The CS-80 is the ultimate supersynth of the 70s. Analog multitimbral polysynths are fucking expensive, and none of them are going to sound like a CS-80, because none of them cost upwards of $30,000 in today's dollars. Well, except maybe the Deckard's Dream thing I saw demoed, which is like $2500-$3500. I don't even know if they are actively building them. Also does not come with a keyboard. If you want to make an attempt at Vangelis, get some software and a controller keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch. Do these even exist? I have no fucking clue. Shit is expensive, almost nothing ships with polyphonic aftertouch. That was a key bit of expressivity used by Vangelis. The one piece of hardware that I have left in my house is an Ensoniq SQ-80...which has polyphonic aftertouch. Keyboard is clacky as hell because of it, though, and oooold. I do not relish the thought of having to repair that keyboard. -/ES/- Arturia CS-80V Also: DUNE Holy shit, that sounds good, now I want it.
