Re: Ugh

I have had to attend planning meetings in my career to argue for horrible bugs to get fixed in the current sprint ASAP as no dev or PM gave enough of a shit to just put it in. Posts on a forum are never going to get prioritized.
I can't speak for all programmers, and maybe this isn't new, but I've noticed a shift were they don't <i>want</i> to fix their bugs but only do new feature work (which is a kludge of new bugs to their old buggy code). The winning argument at the end of the day is "it doesn't generate money" to bugfix and their manager (or project lead) agrees with the assessment.
It doesn't matter how much community sourcing, free labor, insider programs, offshore leveraging and automation you have.
Of course I agree with you here :) Unfortunately, what I've seen is that upper middle management cut their teeth in places like call centers, and light industrial, where they were the first to start outsourcing and now they've been running the software industry into the ground for the past 20 years using the same tactics. Jumping to a new company ever 5 years, then bleeding that one dry too under the guise of cost-saving or optimization. Never sell your own company or code to these vampires.
