Their commentary tracks
are awful. So far I have listened to two: the one for Robocop and the one for Alien. In both cases, the "commentary track" has instructions on how to sync it up with the movie but then has no temporal relationship with the movie itself whatsoever. In both cases they just did a feature-length podcast about the entire franchise and didn't even pay attention to what was happening onscreen. Mike Stoklasa is a self-described structure nerd with regard to movies so I expected them to say something about how Alien's first 10 minutes is a perfect sci-fi opener, but no, the first ten minutes of the Alien commentary is Jay Bauman proclaiming that Alien3 gets a bad rap. Likewise in the Robocop commentary they never bother commenting on anything happening onscreen and instead make endless comparisons with the sequels. If you're like me and wanted to buy a couple of these for the sake of throwing a couple of bucks at these guys, I recommend not bothering listening to it in sync with movie and just treating them like any other podcast. They're probably worth a dollar when consumed like that.
