<b>Title: </b><font color=yellow>"Take it Easy" is written from the perspective of the Zodiac Killer</font>
"Take it easy" is about a guy who's had a number of casual encounters (which may be one night stands) and currently, is thinking of seven women, four who really liked what he did, two who were dissatisfied, and one that either was just okay with him or had rated him "Let's just be friends."
Well, I'm running down the road Tryin' to loosen my load I've got seven women on My mind Four that wanna own me Two that wanna stone me One says she's a friend of mine
My sister has a big hobby in watching films and reading books about serial killers. They don't stick around and if he had snuffed these women, how would he know that some of them really, really liked him, and two hated him?
Well, I'm a standing on a corner In Winslow, Arizona
The Zodiac Killer operated out of the extremely "target rich" San Francisco area. Winslow is 820 miles from tne Bay Area, and since this guy is hitchhiking (as the next line of the song indicates) since the cops never found him, why would he thumb his way hundreds of miles - and more back - when he has plenty of targets where he lived?
And such a fine sight to see It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowin' down to take a look at me Come on, baby, don't say maybe
Here, he wants her to definitely be interested. Again, a serial killer is going to murder her. Why would he care if she said "maybe"? He isn't going to ask her, he'd just going to rape her.
I gotta know if your sweet love is Gonna save me We may lose and we may win though We will never be here again So open up, I'm climbin' in So take it easy
This song gives me the impression of a guy who hitchhikes and looks for women for one-night stands or short-term liasons as he travels around, not coming back. Nothing here indicates a guy who kills the women he bangs. Note, I said "bangs," not "rapes." If you're going to kill them you're almost certainly going to rape them. And why would he have thnoughts of five women who liked what he did enough to either want to own him or think of him as a friend?
