Heat Signature is fucking addictive
Heat Signature It's a new game by the creator of Gunpoint. You play a succession of mercenary commandos with little more to their names than a wrench and a personal assault pod who sneak onto enemy capital ships and carry out covert missions to build up the funds and equipment necessary to carry out one maximum difficulty mission to fulfill their personal goal, like rescuing their mom or getting rich from stealing a prototype. Gameplay-wise it's like a turn-based Hotline Miami with randomly generated levels and ranomly generated gunpoint-style weapons and toys that allow you to fuck with guards and ship systems to procedural effect. It also features copious amounts of defenestration. Thanks to a generous time compression whenever you hold "F" the game moves like a flash once you get the hang of the controls and the time mechanics. Lose your main dude? No problem, grab a new dude, buy him a wrench and you're back in action in seconds. The game also has an unlock system that increases the stock of shops and retains its progress between characters. If you get a really good piece of equipment you can retire and name that tool so that it shows up in the RNG pool in future playthroughs. Note that if you rely on one character for too long they develop an increasingly severe XP penalty. Unfortunately while the graphics are more detailed than Gunpoint, they're much uglier. Think one step better than SPAZ. The music is pretty forgettable as well, but it's all in ogg format so you can easily sub in the Hotline Miami soundtrack in its place. Definitely grab on sale, maybe even buy at the full $15.
