Re: I whiffed my first time as Jason too

It's weird that the starting unlocked Jasons, 2 of them can't run which forces you to rely on the teleport powers which is super tricky to get the hang of at first.
I'm REALLY glad that you told me that other Jasons can run. Christ, that was a chore, moving that chunky fuck around the map. That was "original retail release of the first Baldur's Gate" bad.
Start off picking up the 2 knives in your hut, because what the hell else are you going to do before your map teleport power (Morph) becomes available?
I actually did do this. I don't think I knew how to throw them, but I did grab the knives. (Adding to my inventory made easy by a lifetime of text adventures, psh.)
Once you get morph, first step is either putting a trap on the phone fuse box and destroying all the power boxes (lightning bolts on the map). Turning out the lights builds up fear in the counselors, which will eventually cause them to glow red when you turn on your sense vision and stumble when trying to run.
I think conceptually I knew to do something with the phones, but this is good info. I had no idea about the fear element. And I should note that I do not hold it against the game when they have a "How to Play" section and I don't click on it. That is totally fine, I was willing to sacrifice knowing exactly what to do in exchange for just playing. I come off as pretty cynical towards games on this site lately, and I am not cynical at all about this game.
Use your Sense skill to look around. The white circles are sources of noise, which are usually counselors (but can be radios in buildings, or firecrackers). If a counselor is making noise inside, the whole building will be red. Also, use Sense in short pulses. It recharges way faster if you turn it off before it's fully drained.
I did fall for the radio sense at one point. I don't think we can smash the radios, which would have helped me. Maybe Jason doesn't smash the radios because as an obvious fan of hockey he knows that most of the Stanley Cup playoffs are only available through the radio, sadly.
Keep an eye out when they get the car/boat running. It will turn red on the map and start moving. Use Morph to get in front of it. The car simply hitting you will stall it and force them to try and restart it. If they dodge you, use Shift (the short range blink teleport that puts you into Evil Dead POV mode) to get back in front of it.
Oh, whoever was Jason after me last night didn't get in front of the car, but ended up to the side. He smashed the car, but it just kept running.
I finally figured out grab kills! The icons for the kills labeled 1-4 in the bottom right will light up. Counselors with pocket knives will automatically break away, and other players can attack and stun you while grabbing. I usually try to soften them up with a swing or two before trying to grab; if they break away, they'll be limping and easy to catch again.
I am leaving this up in case I get to be Jason again. At the moment, I am having more fun as the counselors. (Knowing that they have different skills is also good.) And how great was it seeing that person named zundkira or whatever escape Jason for like five minutes before dying after jumping out of the building? Hahah, loved that. I may get a microphone working for this, which is the highest compliment I can give it. I bought a game called In Verbis Virtus, which is a game where you cast spells by speaking them. I've never played it because I don't have the mic going. I am ok with that, but it seems like it would be fun for this one. ICJ
