I still say it's one of the best puzzle games to come out in a long time. You never get "fucked" by the RNG, the risks are always clearly explained, and if you lose it's your fault. What's more, you can set the game to give you rewinds if you're worried about getting fucked by the RNG's creating a tricky level layout.
The arbitrary level layouts drive me nuts. I wish they had at least a few clever and well-designed levels by actual game designers. Instead, you could have the elevator almost next door to your entry or 18 rooms away that you didn't see because the door in the corner was hidden by the layout of the room. Procedural levels are fine for straightforward 2D scrollers or to generate sky in E:D or broken colonies in DF but the shortcomings really shine through in more complex puzzle games like this.
Maybe all the amazingly deep shit MM was talking about opens up after 10 hours, but from what I played the only puzzle element was "which stuff do you want to blow Cognita's points on?" and you had no clue how much more of the level you had to go. It's not a puzzle or proper risk/reward system if the end of the tunnel is invisible and random.
