The Walking Dead
::
Well finished 3rd episode.
It's hard to tell how much I'm being railroaded without replaying it, but I actually sort of want to replay it which wasn't the case for Walking Dead. It's a pretty similar format but at least has a smattering of not so complex puzzles sprinkled into it. Maybe it's more an issue with "let's escape" zombies being a terribly boring fucking premise and this being semi interesting. The dialog is painful but fitting for a bunch of (18 year old) kids. Each episode has pretty neat moments, but more 2 and 3 than 1. I hope they put in a "change choices" mode where you can skip all dialog so you can more easily replay the story. The plot might have been taken a turn for the generic with the end of Episode 3 but I'm willing to let it sort itself out. I'm pretty surprised I like this game so far. While I feel like Walking Dead season 2 was a major let down this feels like where I'd like to see these kinds of games go. Even if they're mostly linear still hopefully we can work our way to flow charts that look like this. I feel a lot more comfortable thinking this is the ultimate successor to the adventure genre rather than Walking Dead or Telltale's Game of Thrones dreck. There's even a sort of funny running theme of people referring to the main character as nosy, a perfect adventure game protagonist.
