Never played Teleglitch, but it looks fun for damn sure.
I'm amazed at EA's screwup too, and hopeful that this slip on their part and the subsequent development of it into a better game by their competitors will be replicated in race-to-the-top fashion by other companies looking to establish themselves as successors to EA's sweatshop quality products. I could not be happier if this happened with Alpha Centauri after the clusterfuck that was Civ BE, but Civ players are too much like pinback to be likely to capitalize on that - they have no time for something with much more depth, they just want to crunch numbers, build cities, and play one more turn. Makes me think this is only possible with a demographic as interested in depth in design as SimCity fans. Paradox is certainly talented when it comes to assembling a lot of games I want to play under one banner, and they may well have balls. The CEO or someone near his level said he'd eat his hat if Victoria 2 showed a profit and that they were only making it as a favor to their fans, and then they went ahead and made it and lo and behold it showed a profit and he came out and admitted he was wrong. No other company I know about has done that, done any of those things. Never have I heard stories about an exec publicly saying 'yeah, we're not gonna make any money on this, let's do this anyway though - for the FANS!' and never have I ever goddamn heard of them coming out afterward and saying 'we were wrong, I was wrong, I'm glad.'
