The way postgres handles users and trusts
Is the dumbest fucking implementation of anything I've ever seen in my entire career. You need a postgres user! Sort of! It doesn't need a password if you are trusted! Only localhost is trusted by default! There is kiiiiiind of a postgres Unix user too, but not really! He needs a password! Sometimes! By default we trust no system other than where it's installed! There's no way to find the fucking pg_hba.conf file to make changes unless you already know where it is! (Honestly true.) You can start it by etc/init.d! Or chkconfig! Or pg_ctl! I've lost an entire morning of productivity because the dumb fucking shitheads that think all of this is OK can't bring their shitty programs into 2014. If you MUST require the literal editing of pg_hba.conf to allow anyone non-local to access the DB, ***maybe fucking ask a user to provide that info after installation????*** What do they honestly think people are going to do after installing a db? Maybe fucking access it with their work computer? If you told one of these dumb fucking wastes of space about pgadmin it would blow their fucking minds. Death to all nerds. ICJ
