I think in the end it doesn't even matter to these people if she was serious.
Because even if you literally vote against games solely based on the idea games should no longer feature men or be made by men you're promoting inclusivity and it's a net positive, regardless of what an asshole it makes you look like and that it serves no long term benefit beyond making yourself feel better. So if she wasn't joking, then whatever hey men do that every fucking day, so you're discriminating. If she was joking, oh well I bet you laugh when you hear someone say "Women can't live with em, can't kill em", so you see it's really the same thing and you're discriminating. These people don't know how to behave. It's like going to a concert of someone who is popular on the Internet and dealing with a bunch of people who have never been to a concert, for all they know hitting someone on the head with a glow stick is PROPER PROTOCOL for getting closer to the performer. It's just a bunch of people who have no concept of NOT acting like crackpots. In the end I don't know that they're WRONG but they're fucking stupid because they constantly let a narrative be established where they look like a bunch of bleating children. Has Mattie Brice even done anything meaningful? I looked at her portfolio and I thought she was a designer on Mass Effect, but apparently not? She just really liked how Mass Effect looks and put a bunch of pictures of it on her portfolio page. I mean we all knew the IGF was a social welfare organization after giving Phil Fish two cash prizes, so it's no big surprise anyone associated with it is not going to be very impressive. Though it isn't the best idea joking about how much you love the power you're going to abuse in a competition where there has been a lot of chatter about the judges being worthless and dishonest, especially when the only claim to fame you have is video games blogging on social issues. I mean shit, I even ended this post on an objectionable point. The idea that actually developing fun games that aren't made in Twine means your opinion is going to be more worthwhile, obviously that's inherently sexist!
