Re: Worse than anyone could imagine?

Reviewers lose their jobs for panning heavily advertised games but what generates the shitstorm
There was a shitstorm when Gerstman got fired.
(i)s the revelation that a guy reviewed a game without disclosing that a coworker fucked that game's creator.
Nope, what I mean is that they -- Grayson and everyone else at RPS -- knew how it would look if they were fucking the people they were reporting on and still gave shit to other development teams for not being considerate to women.
Or that likeminded games writers discussed their work with one another and got predictably pissy about all the people screaming at them.
This is just ethics. I can't believe you think the above is OK. Let's say I am supposed to meet game journo Smem Blootera at 5:00 at the Foobar Room at PAX and I just can't get there. I didn't anticipate how long it would take to travel on foot in Seattle, I couldn't get a cab or I lost track of time. Let's say I am a game developer who is supposed to meet a press guy and I screw up. It's 100% on me. I try to apologize but Smem is overtired and cranky. You HONESTLY think it's OK for there to be a Google Group where Smem can fire off something like, "Hey, A Friend stood me up, guy's a fucking asshole, don't waste your time" to 50 other journos. That's ok with you? Where any of these immature assholes can effectively "blacklist" (not really, but you know what i mean) you by firing off an email? A very small percentage of anyone in a google group really knows the other. Maybe a couple guys know that Smem is an asshole himself but most people will read that and go "noted" and that's it. And then they all decide what to write about (which they did btw)
