Garbage like Fez and Depression Quest and ESPECIALLY Papers, Please were getting all kinds of free and undeserved critical praise while amazing indie games like Aces Wild languish in obscurity, save for a panning by totalbiscuit because he tried to play it with the keyboard. This whole #gamergate thing ultimately revealed that there was a clique in the indie community that's has inappropriately close times to the games journalists, so critical praise and the financial success that follows gets distributed unfairly. When the journos realized they'd been caught, they inappropriately latched on to feminism and claimed the outrage toward their slanted coverage was due to slut-shaming. I looked at Zoe Quinn as nothing more than the straw that broke the camel's back. But then I'm REALLY bitter at getting tricked into spending money on Papers, Please by the gaming press.[/quote]
